STOUT VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION INSTITUTE

Description

The Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute (SVRI) is located at UW Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin.  SVRI  provides solutions for people with disabilities and others in the community through education, research and services.  We strive to develop and implement innovative programs and services.  SVRI services are available statewide.

Services

SVRI provides services in four specific areas; vocational evaluation, employment, assistive technology and professional development or training.

Vocational Evaluation - The Vocational Evaluation process is a person-centeredapproach that assists an individual in determining their vocational assets and limitations.  This leads to  informed vocational and career decisions based upon that knowledge.A significant development with vocational evaluation is the integration of these services with the other SVRI programs. The availability of Assistive Technology has allowed for the development of the Intensive Assessment, combining technology assessment with the more traditional Vocational Evaluation process for persons with the most significant disabilities.

Employment Services – SVRI provides employment services in the areas of job seeking skills trainings, job development and job placement.  Technical assistance is available for employers and further information can be found at the Worksource Wisconsin website.  http://worksourcewi.com/

Assistive Technology Services – The Assistive Technology services at SVRI cover such areas as seating / mobility, vehicle modifications, workplace accommodations, hearing or vision loss, and computer access.  There is also a full service modification lab for adapting a device for a specific consumer or setting.

Professional Development or Training – SVRI is able to provide on-site or online trainings on disability related topics both for consumers and professionals.

Assistive Technology

SVRI maintains has the ability to demonstrate assistive technology to consumers, employers, service providers and the community in general.  Areas include computer software / hardware, seating / mobility, vehicle access, workplace modifications, hearing / vision losses, and educational settings.

SVRI is also the host of the Assistive Technology Resource Center, the website you are currently visiting.
